Refund procedure
Draft for legal review. This text describes what the website actually does; the parish’s lawyer must check it and complete the parts in square brackets before it is relied upon.
The rule
A donation is a voluntary gift and is normally not returned.
When we return a donation
The parish returns a donation made by mistake — a wrong amount, a payment made twice, or a payment you did not authorise. [Time limit for a request, for example 30 days — to be completed.]
How to ask
Write to the parish using the details on the contacts page. Give the date, the amount and currency, and the PayPal transaction number from PayPal’s receipt, and say whether you want all or part of the amount back.
How it is done
The parish treasurer returns the money through PayPal to the account or card you paid with, in full or in part. PayPal’s fee may not be returned [to be checked against PayPal’s terms]. PayPal tells you when the refund is made; it usually reaches you within a few working days, depending on your bank.
Disputes through PayPal
You keep the rights PayPal gives you under its own terms. If you open a dispute with PayPal, the parish answers it there.
Names for prayer
Names that have been submitted are read at the service and cannot be “returned”; a donation added to a list is handled as above.
