Terms of donations and prayer notes

Draft for legal review. This text describes what the website actually does; the parish’s lawyer must check it and complete the parts in square brackets before it is relied upon.

Scope

These terms apply to donations and to names for prayer submitted through this website of [legal name of the parish — to be completed] (“the parish”). No account is needed.

Donations

  • A donation is a voluntary gift to the parish. It is not a payment for goods or services and gives no right to anything in return.

  • You choose the amount and currency within the limits shown on the form. You pay through PayPal (and, where offered, Apple Pay or Google Pay through PayPal) under PayPal’s own terms; the money goes directly to the parish’s PayPal account.

  • A donation to a particular fundraiser is used for its purpose. If the fundraiser is closed or its goal is exceeded, the parish uses the rest for its other church and charitable needs [to be confirmed by the lawyer].

  • The donation is made once PayPal confirms the payment; the status page on this website shows it.

  • Refunds follow the refund procedure.

Names for prayer

  • You may submit up to ten names in one list, for health or for repose, for the Divine Liturgy, the Paraklesis or the Trisagion. Lists are collected once a day at the time shown on the form and read at the chosen service.

  • At the Divine Liturgy only Orthodox Christians are commemorated; you confirm this when you submit. The clergy may leave out names that do not follow the rules stated on the form.

  • A donation with a list is optional: the names are read whether or not you donate.

  • If you ask for a reading report, we e-mail you once the names have been read. The report is a courtesy: a delay in sending it does not mean that the names were not read.

Your part

Submit only names you may submit, and an e-mail address that is yours. Do not write anything else about the people named.

Liability

The parish takes care that the website works and that the lists are read, but cannot promise that the website is always available. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
